Mid Week Diners Club
If you take a look at the Midweek Diners Club offer you’ll find a few Wirral based, participating restaurants. Gusto in Heswall (and Liverpool) is part of the scheme for instance - in fact there’s a few Liverpool restaurants in the scheme.
How it works is that you pay for your low-price, annual membership card and this entitles you to free offers and discounts at over 1,000 participating restaurants across the UK. Most offers can be used for up to 4 diners (sometimes even more) and some offers can even be used at weekends! Offer include:

Taste Liverpool Credits Sheldrakes
Sheldrakes has recently been awarded the highest category attainable, the ‘TASTE LIVERPOOL HIGHEST QUALITY ASSURED’ accreditation, in the new ‘Taste Liverpool’ restaurant accreditation scheme. The scheme is sponsored by the NWDA and eu&merseyside and promoted by The Mersey Partnership and aims to recognise those restaurants that offer a quality dining experience to visitors to the region.
Sheldrakes also received an additional award ‘MADE IN THE NORTH WEST’ accreditation, in recognition of our continual support of local producers.

Wirral Chefs Shine 2008
This years Wirral equivalent to Masterchef is up and running - yes, Wirral Chefs Shine 2008 is up and running!
We gather (from the local paper!) that the nominations are in, the judges have deliberated and next week the first finalist will be announced. The Wirral Tourism backed competition is now in it’s fifth year, though I’m struggling to find the offial website that describes the history of the competition - heck, I’m going to email someone about that!
I can tell you that in 2007, the winning chef was Colin Parry from La Paz in West Kirby - so jolly well done to him!
